Bayfield Trip Report

Back in mid-May, I spent a few days in the Bayfield, Wisconsin area scouting for my May 14 to 17, 2020 Sea and Landscapes of Bayfield Peninsula Photo Workshop. I love the Bayfield area, but usually when I’m over that way I bring a kayak and paddle the sea caves. This time I left the kayak home and made sure I spent time photographing the area instead of paddling.

I’m glad I did, because, wow!, there are some great places to photograph. I had the pleasure of having friend and local photographer Jeremy Oswald show me his favorite locations in the area. He joined me for dinner a couple of nights and a day of adventure and hiking. It was a blast!

Here are a few of the photos that I made while on the peninsula.

I’m always amazed at how many photos you can make in a short period of time if you dedicate yourself to photography. I shoot for 5 good photos a day on a trip like this and for the few days that I was there I made more good shots than my goal.

I can’t wait to get back there and do more exploring, especially in the areas south of Ashland. There looks to be many locations down that way for landscape photography.

This is my favorite photo from the trip.
