PhotoPills can be overwhelming. It’s packed with features, and some of the features aren’t easily found or used. But what if you could use it confidently? As a previous workshop participant or outdoor photographer, you’ve likely seen it used it in the field. Now it’s your turn to master it.

What You’ll Learn

You’ll discover how to:

  • Find perfect sunrise, sunset, and Milky Way locations using the Planner
  • Master essential tools like Exposure, DoF, and Hyperfocal Table
  • Make AR features actually work for you, not just look cool
  • Create shoot schedules that integrate with your calendar
  • Use “My Stuff” to streamline your workflow

We’ll tackle both landscape and astrophotography planning. Real-world examples? We’ll use locations you know: Split Rock Lighthouse, the Grand Marais lighthouse, Clearwater Lake on the Gunflint Trail. We might even venture to the Badlands and the Grand Tetons.

Technical Setup

You’ll need a computer with Zoom installed. Have your phone ready with PhotoPills installed on it. I’ll demo on the tablet version – it’s easier to see. But don’t worry. We’ll cover the phone interface too. It has all the same info, but it’s structured slightly different in only one way. Got a webcam and mic? Great! They’ll help you participate fully. But they’re not deal-breakers, you can ask questions via the chat.

You know my style. We break down the complex. We make it practical. There are no wrong questions here. If you’re not learning, I’m not teaching. By the end of this class, you’ll have a grasp on how to use PhotoPills to plan your photo adventures. PhotoPills won’t be that overwhelming app anymore. It’ll be your go-to tool for planning great shots.

Ready to transform how you use PhotoPills? Let’s do this.
