Photo Spots of Trails End Campground Photography Guidebook

hand-drawn map of Trails End Campground

Trails End Campground at the end of the Gunflint Trail, Cook County, MN is one of the most popular campgrounds in the area. It’s often booked solid, especially on the weekends. There’s a good reason for its popularity. The campsites are mainly on the water and it’s in a scenic area far away from the workaday life. Because it’s so scenic, it’s also a great spot for photographers. It has two must-photograph locations for me and a close third. I use two of the three on photography workshops that I teach.

This guide is simple. It’s one of my hand-drawn and watercolor maps with short descriptions of nine locations on the back. The locations are either in campsites or accessible to the public.

Sunrise and sunset times for the equinoxes and solstices plus azimuths in a handy little chart

  • 6- by 6-inches pages designed to print as a map.
  • 2 pages
  • PDF format (download and print)
  • 340 words

This guide was produced for fun. As a joke, I wrote on the front of the map “For all the secrets, see the back.” Then I though, why not actually put the locations on the back. While I wanted to hand letter the back, I just used a font that looks like handwriting.
