The night sky in the Grand Marais, Minnesota is one of the darkest in the United States, and when the Milky Way is in the sky you can see it from nearly everywhere in the county. The nearby Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is an designated International Dark Sky Association Sanctuary. Lake Superior and the nearby inland lakes make for great locations to learn night photography. On this private astrophotography photography workshop, you’ll learn the basics of nightscape photography. Nightscape photography is photographing the night sky above a landscape scene. If you’re a beginner, I’ll teach you how to photograph the night sky. For more advanced students, I’ll tailor the lesson to what you need to learn to take you to the next level.

This private astrophotography photo workshop will take place near Lake Superior in Grand Marais, Minnesota. You will learn how to capture and compose nightscape images, and how to use your camera’s settings to capture the best images. The lesson can be tailored to your skill level or interests.
